Iruai 'Bloom Phase' Red 2023

Sourced from two organic vineyards on the banks of the Applegate River in Southern Oregon, our 2023 Bloom Phase Red was fermented 100% whole cluster - given a week of carbonic maceration, followed by a week of daily gentle foot treading to infuse the juice with the skins rather than extract the tannins. The Gamay was pressed off after two weeks to maintain freshness, and the Grenache and Syrah underwent a submerged cap extended maceration for an additional 75 days to enhance texture and aromatics.

Aged on the lees for six months in a combination of nuetral oak barrels and cuve tanks. Bottled unfined and unfiltered with a single dose of 25 ppm S02 one month prior to bottling for stability from 02 pressures on the bottling line.

This is the "choose your own adventure" of "red wines." A California riff on the lighter, high toned Southern Rhone reds we drank in Provence over the Summer, long ago. Bloom Phase is comprised primarily of whole cluster fermented Grenach with Gamay and skin contact Pinot Gris. Fresh and zesty, with a tropical and peppery nose, crunchy blue fruits, and that smooth finish you've been looking for your whole life!
